A plastic holder is used to build this. It is important to cover
the inside of the holder with felt to eliminate resonance when the pen is in the holder. Resonance from loose fittings
and fixtures gets onto my nerves!!!
My initial problem was: "How to build a pen holder that will take a varying length of
pen?"...."...and yet allowing the pen head to stick out of the holder for easy retreival?"
So the idea of a rubber stopper that can be adjusted by inserting through different holes
came to mind. This allow different depth of the pen holder to be set, should I decided to change to a pen of different length.
A longer pen (above) can be inserted by
placing the stopper in the last hole.
A shorter pen can be inserted by placing
the stopper in the second last hole.
