Lambo Doors

How It Opens

Installation Process

In order to ensure proper and tight bolting, you need to removing fender during installation. Air wrenching is advisable. Fenders rolling definitely required

Just like the Lamborghini itself, you need to be a bit of a contortionist to get in and out of the car. Think about this when you car is not a show car, but a commuter and you have to do that many times a day. I’m sure you will get used to it soon, but what about passengers? Other than being a driver, you would also have to be a valet closing the passenger door for female passengers.  If your lambo door kit comes with a 750lb shock, it could mean that the only female passengers with arms like pythons could have the strength to pull down the door.

So picture this….on a Saturday afternoon, you pull over at a bus stop outside a crowded shopping mall to pick up your chick. The people standing at the bus stop was amazed by your sleek Celica and the lambo door, but after she gets into the car, she can’t close the door. So you get out of your car, ran over to the other side to like an idiot to close the door; speed off quickly to save yourself further embarrassment!

If installation is not perfect, the door will come crashing down, and you will need a new pair of hinge to be shipped from the States. Also, poor installation could lead to misalignment of the door and fender; as well as outward ding on the door surface cause by the hinge tip.

Driver side shock will wear faster, which means you definitely need replacement in the future, especially when the driver side shock becomes softer or when you are using the 650lb or 700lb shock. Ship from States again?  Those who have the heavy TRD Mechanical Spoiler will know what kind of weight gets exerted on shocks.

If you are unlucky, your lambo door kit package may contain faulty or less than perfect shock and hinges.  Although the distributor offers replacement and warranty, the inconvenience and cost of shipping is a concern.

You get what you pay for. Those costing more than US$1000 tend to be of good quality, possibly with shocks imported from a reliable manufacturer in Germany. But the low priced ebay stuff could be cheap replica of poor quality. Order an extra set as spare?

The plastic cap at the pivot joint may not be durable. Problem may even arise at the start if installation and usage is not done properly.

Alignment of the door must be done properly, or else your door won’t shut.

Due to the weight of the Celica door, failure of the pivot ball or shock may result in a damaged hinge.

Wind noise at 100km/h may be your new (known) problem after installing the lambo door.

There is a way to get away with inspection. As you can set the horizontal opening of the door to halfway equivalent of stock, you just need to ensure that the door doesn’t get lifted upward during the inspection process. Lock the passenger side door and if possible, you drive the car during all stages of the

Install if you want a show car or some sexy pictures for retention. Definitely not ideal for day-to-day use. The inconvenience of having your car out of commission may not be worth the while.

Floor Pan Insulation

Was considering laying Insulflex on the floor pan, but when I remove the front seat and I lift up the carpet, I realise that Celica came from factory with a fair amount of fabric padding below this carpet.

With an SQ system and 10” sub that is incapable of churning 1000W, I decided to give floor pan dampening a miss.
